A Reminder of First and Fourth and Article Rights

August 15, 2014

Here’s a good thing to remember when US-NORTHCOM deploys. I doubt the police and National Guard, let alone foreign troops legally authorized to enforce indefinite detention of American citizens in such a case, would observe our Constitutional rights. Martial law does tend to repeal those things.

But seriously, the correct term is article. The Constitutional right to free speech, et cetera, is the First Article. Illegal search and seizure is prevented by due application of the Fourth Article. They are not amendments once ratified into the legal document, and as far as that goes, only the eleventh right in the Bill of Rights onward were EVER amendments. They are now ALL ARTICLES. Why does no one use these terms correctly?
