An Astronomical Observation

September 18, 2015

This seems extremely coincidental, especially given the precise and unlikely dynamics of the Earth itself, its distance from our star (being perfect for ideal habitable zones), a conspicuously beneficial distance from our only natural satellite, and all the other fragile balancing of our global ecosystem. It’s not really an argument for God, but it does seem to imply something of design. At least, I wonder if this coincidence in particular, and perhaps that of the Moon appearing the same size as the Sun thanks to relativistic perception from our distance, have any bearing on Bode’s (astronomical) Law—a corollary of the basic equation, maybe? There seems to be a golden mean quality to it all. Ptolemy would appreciate that.
